Katannu Rowsell
Katannu is a kind and mature therapist offering a safe empathic space, where you can talk openly about personal issues without fear of judgement. He is experienced at helping people to make sense of the struggles that being human inevitably involves, and to find ways through psychological / spiritual crises.
A course of therapy with Katannu will usually begin with exploring issues you are currently struggling with, alongside the wider context in which they have arisen (family, work, cultural, societal), to enable a shared understanding of your story. Over time Katannu will support you to access qualities that can enable psychological wounds to heal, to overcome blocks preventing you from moving forward in life, and to accept aspects of your experience that can’t be changed.
Exploring these painful aspects of life sometimes also brings to light hidden strengths and deeper aspirations or soul callings. Katannu will respond to such emerging potential, supporting you to find a new way forward. This may feel as important as resolving the issues that originally brought you to therapy.
Katannu has completed training in Psychosynthesis Counselling (BACP registered), Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (BABCP accredited), and a number of other approaches including Compassion Focused Therapy. He draws on all of these in an integrative approach to counselling and psychotherapy. Prior to training as a therapist, he spent many years practicing and teaching meditation (including mindfulness and compassion) and sees such spiritual practices as being on a continuum with the psychological work of therapy.
Katannu practises at Bodywise on Wednesdays and charges £65 for a 50-minute session. Please email him if you would like to arrange a time to talk through the possibility of working together: katannu@hotmail.com
