Pilates
About Pilates
Pilates is a fusion of Eastern and Western forms of exercise based on six principles: concentration, breathing, centering, placement, relaxed control, fluidity of movement. It can be seen as an exploration of the effect of the breath on the use of the abdominal muscles and dynamic alignment. Practitioners may see improvements in body awareness, graceful movement, postural balance, muscular stamina, and in general health.
Pilates consists of a series of exercises that address the body as a whole; strengthening the centre, lengthening the spine, building muscle tone and improving posture and flexibility. Working from the inside out Pilates is also an excellent rehabilitation system for back, knee, hip and shoulder injuries. Each session is conducted calmly with concentration and controlled breathing. You will leave the class physically and mentally refreshed with a feeling of well-being.

Ester Escolano
Ester discovered Pilates during her dance training as it helped her to overcome an incapacitating knee injury. Through her experience she has seen the benefits that a connection between body, mind and
breathing can bring and she is willing to share this with others.
Ester has studied a variety of Pilates' techniques, combining traditional Pilates with modern principles of exercise science, drawing from Body Control Pilates among others. She keeps up to date with new developments in the field through workshops and is working toward additional certifications. Her aim is to continue learning and growing as a teacher. She is particularly interested in developing a better understanding of complementary subjects based on mind and body training, such as the Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais and yoga. She is a member of Register Exercise Professionals (REPS) and has a degree in Podiatry/Chiropody from the University Complutense of Madrid (Spain).
Ester applies a somatic approach to Pilates, with an emphasis on the connection between mind and body to achieve correct postural alignment whilst paying attention to breathing. Ester is a caring and encouraging teacher with a keen eye for detail, helping each client to improve body awareness, alignment and mobility, as well as releasing muscle tension.
Charlotte Seirberg

Charlotte’s classes are dedicated to helping others improve their kinaesthetic sense, mobility of the spine, as well as releasing muscle tension. She focuses on breathing to promote well-being. Charlotte was born in Denmark, and has trained with the Pilates Foundation in London.
Rehabilitation for Pilates
Rehabilitation Pilates is for those who have sports injuries, back, disc or shoulder problems. With a maximum of 7 people in the class, the teacher is able to focus on the individual and tailor specific exercises to your needs.
Rosalie Pastrana
Rosalie suffered from numerous back aches while growing up. After struggling with different exercise regimes for years she decided to leave Spain and in 1997 she moved to the UK in search of a better quality of life. She came across the Pilates Method while practising Yoga in London. In no time her back pain receded, replaced by a sense of balance and wellbeing that made her want to study and develop this body movement discipline in depth.
She completed British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Course with Barbara Joseph going on to qualify as a Matwork Pilates Foundation Teacher® with Anoushka Boone at Pilates in Motion.
Rosalie is committed to continuous professional development by attending Pilates and Anatomy workshops and studying complementing courses such as Fitness on the ball, aimed to effectively work the core, enhancing both her teaching and personal practice.
Her classes: believing that both physical and emotional pain play a significant role in the way we hold ourselves, she loves helping others to free their bodies and to use Pilates to know themselves better and to have fun. Mind and body are brought together by coordinated flowing movement within a caring, supportive and friendly atmosphere.
Rehabilitation class: Pilates is an excellent form of rehabilitation. This class is aimed to address back care management such as lower back pain, scoliosis, post-pregnancy lumbar pain, herniated disc or degenerative disc disease.
It is also suitable for chronic pain, sport injuries of different joints and muscle imbalances.
Working with the core: by identifying good posture, unnecessary strain will be removed from all joints. This class will emphasize spine health and flexibility, alignment, core strength/stabilisation and breathing, in order to eliminate tension from the body while de-stressing the mind.
