N.B Medical conditions must be diagnosed by your GP. I am happy to work with your GP to treat conditions such as IBS - in fact, many GPs recognise that clinical hypnosis is one of the only treatments that IBS responds to, and that includes changes in diet and lifestyle.

Low-cost Smoking Cessation

Hypnotherapy is generally accepted to be one of the more successful ways to give up smoking – immediately. The smoker need only see the therapist for just one (or sometimes two) sessions, and with cigarettes at around £6 a pack, the cost benefit will be seen within a month for many people.

However, this puts hypnotherapy out of the reach of many smokers, who cannot afford the initial outlay, often up to or over £200 (particularly at the Harley Street end of the scale). Those in low-waged work, out of work or students may want to quit just as much, and will appreciate the savings even more. Now these people can access hypnotherapy as Bodywise launches its Low-Cost Smoking Cessation Clinic.

David Taylor is an experienced Clinical Hypnotherapist who has helped many people stop smoking. People have remarked how their cravings have simply disappeared, something which, although they obviously hoped for positive results, they weren’t necessarily expecting. David is now offering discounted, one-hour appointments to the low-waged, unemployed and NUS, particularly who live in the local community.

We will discuss your smoking habit past and present, your motivation, and I will guide you into a relaxed hypnotic state to specifically address your smoking.

David states that hypnotherapy is the use of clinical hypnosis to help you to stop smoking, manage stress and boost confidence, control weight, insomnia, phobias and panic attacks, and many other conditions. The term clinical hypnosis emphasises the use of hypnotic techniques in a clinical environment - not necessarily a hospital or doctor's surgery, but one where a condition is identified and treated.
Many people find they have problems arising from unknown sources, whether these problems be physical (for example, IBS) or psychological (for example, insomnia). Clinical hypnosis is a way of treating these conditions by creating change at the unconscious level where they originate. Hypnotherapy is creative change.
The hypnotherapist utilises naturally-occurring trance states to create a state of mind both receptive to and conducive for change. You may have experienced such a state of mind when driving and not noticing the miles as they pass, or when becoming absorbed in a book or film. This is accompanied by a shift into a state of bodily relaxation, similar to that experienced when on the edge of sleep. In that state, new learning can take place as suggestions are made for creative change.

Lesley Parker

Lesley Parker, hypnotherapistAdvanced Clinical Hypnotherapist and Counsellor BUPA, NHS and Pru Health registered sees clients at Bodywise on alternate Saturdays and charges £55 for the first appointment, and £50 for follow-ups; all appointments are for 1 hour. Her 2 session "Stop Smoking" course costs £250, to be paid in full at the first appointment.

Lesley explains that our difficulties, whether emotional or physical, are the result of how we think, or how we believe ourselves to be. Perhaps we have been saying, doing or reacting to things in the same way for so long that they just seem to happen automatically, as if outside our control. So, as much as we want to change, we don't seem to be able to do anything about it. More often than not, those reactions which we describe as 'automatic' are being carried out by our sub-conscious - that marvelous and complex part of the mind that contains all of our wisdom, memories and intelligence. It regulates the millions of processes that keep us alive and healthy, like blood circulation and tissue regeneration. It also governs the way we feel, our emotions, our imagination and the way we behave. Hypnotherapy helps you direct the attention of your sub-conscious mind to those parts that most need help and stimulate into action the vast resources you have at your disposal.
