Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is the use of clinical hypnosis to help you to stop smoking, manage stress and boost confidence, control weight, insomnia, phobias and panic attacks, and many other conditions. The term clinical hypnosis emphasises the use of hypnotic techniques in a clinical environment - not necessarily a hospital or doctor's surgery, but one where a condition is identified and treated.
Many people find they have problems arising from unknown sources, whether these problems be physical (for example, IBS) or psychological (for example, insomnia). Clinical hypnosis is a way of treating these conditions by creating change at the unconscious level where they originate. Hypnotherapy is creative change.
The hypnotherapist utilises naturally-occurring trance states to create a state of mind both receptive to and conducive for change. You may have experienced such a state of mind when driving and not noticing the miles as they pass, or when becoming absorbed in a book or film. This is accompanied by a shift into a state of bodily relaxation, similar to that experienced when on the edge of sleep. In that state, new learning can take place as suggestions are made for creative change.
